Piet Gispen is an autonomous photographer and designer, based in the city of The Hague. The core of his work revolves around people, their surroundings and habitat in the widest sense of the meaning. His specializations include portraits, documentary photography, architectural photography and cityscapes, still life and fine art. From the day he started as a photographer in 2001 he has specialized in high end digital photography.
Before embarking upon his career as a photographer, Piet Gispen has worked for a period of 20 years for international academic publishing companies, which brought him to many countries around the world.
From very early on in his life, he has been drawing, painting and designing and has never stopped doing so.
His many clients include companies, museums and art galeries, governmental institutions and bodies, artists and individuals. His work has been published in numerous books -including his own books-, magazines and newspapers and may be found in many private and public collections.
He has participated in many exhibitions, solo as well as group exhibitions, both in The Netherlands and abroad.
The red spatula, which he uses as part of his company logo, comes from his series of still lives from 2001. It adds colour to the logo and symbolizes both his traditional craftmanship and his modern way of working.
